Reports of toxins in the environment can sometimes feel quite disturbing.   Dangerous chemicals are in used in building materials, personal care products, to grow our food and produce the many technological wonders of our modern world.

While we seek safer alternatives, the fact is that even if we stopped producing synthetic chemicals now, the ones that already exist will persist in our environment for many thousands years to come.  
 
How can we protect ourselves and our children?

Fortunately the human body is well-equipped with mechanisms for neutralising and expelling moderate levels of these toxins.  And there are simple ways we can assist it in this task.

One important food that can support the body's natural detoxification processes is seaweed, which helps the body release poisonous heavy metals.  The following recipe uses the Japanese seaweed called "arame".  If you've never used seaweed before, it is mild-tasting and easy to use.
